# Watford: Hornets mark two-year anniversary of permanent Gerard Deulofeu signing with Instagram throwback

**Watford are reminiscing over the day Gerard Deulofeu arrived at the club as it is two years to the day that the Hornets signed the Spaniard on a [permanent deal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/watford-sign-deulofeu-from-barcelona-for-13m/1rskzd1rltd2i1x73qcsci8w5t).**

The Hertfordshire outfit posted a picture on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CBSZE9KCuyu/) of the Spaniard celebrating a goal during the epic FA Cup semi-final win over Wolves last year, in which he [scored twice](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47763394).

The winger was on loan at the Hornets for the second half of the 2017/18 campaign and only managed seven appearances and one goal before an injury [ruled him out for several games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/verletzungen/spieler/129476), but he clearly impressed as the club subsequently bought the forward for £11.7m, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/transfers/spieler/129476).

From then he would [become a fan favourite](https://www.football.london/watford-fc/news/gerard-deulofeu-watford-fa-cup-16093634), and has featured [70 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/129476/verein/1010) for Watford, scoring 17 goals and supplying 11 assists, and [many supporters have been recalling](https://www.instagram.com/p/CBSZE9KCuyu/?utm_source=ig_embed) the moment when he clinched victory for the side in extra time in the aforementioned [FA Cup semi-final](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47763394) against Wolves at Wembley. The photo on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CBSZE9KCuyu/) shows the moment after he scored that decisive goal and you can clearly see how much it means to him.

Sadly he suffered a cruciate ligament injury three months ago which has [ruled him out until September at the earliest](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/verletzungen/spieler/129476), but fans will be hopeful that he can return to action as soon as possible and entertain them on the pitch.
