# ‘We might need to sell him’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter mixed over midfielder after last night

**Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were mostly pleased to see their creative midfielder, Adam Lallana, back from injury to complete his first 90 minutes of the season yesterday evening. However, with a lack of match fitness, the 29-year-old looked rusty in a game where many would’ve expected him to thrive.**

Liverpool advanced to this season’s Champions League quarter-finals after beating Porto 5-0 on aggregate, despite drawing 0-0 at Anfield last night. The damage was done in the first leg in Portugal when a devasting Sadio Mane hat-trick, coupled with strikes from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, was enough to put the game beyond the Portuguese.

Considering the relevant comfort Liverpool had in the game, out resident Reds, who have been propping up our bar couldn’t help but struggle to criticise the performance of their ex-Southampton midfielder. Adam Lallana will be hoping he can put in more promising displays in the remainder of the season to nail down a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

Here’s the Liverpool fans’ verdict on their playmaker:

> We are not going to see the very very good Lallana again are we? Basically the injury has caused the team to go up a level while he has gone down one.

> Klopp saying that it was important for Lallana to get 90mins is because he was out injured for most of the season he needs game time to regain match fitness and sharpness! Never going to be instant with the way we’ve played recently as well [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> 5-0 up/down and neither team really went for it with support like they received. Think it’s poor and Moreno and lallana with lovren ain’t good enough. [#LFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#UCL](https://twitter.com/hashtag/UCL?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> Not sure whether Lallana is still significantly off the pace, or we are so used to the quality of Mane, Firmino, Salah, the step down is more evident. [#lfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/lfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
