# Wenger not keen on £45m Mahrez, has another illustrious option

**The Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern tend to be onlookers at best amid the proverbial silly season, as Arsene Wenger tends to remain almost entirely dormant at this time of year.**

When one of the Gunners in this evening claimed he had seen a report from *[Tribal Football](https://ht.ly/kxca302xRah)* claiming the Frenchman was not keen on Riyad Mahrez, there was backlash amongst some of the drinkers.

Well, until he read the rest of the report.

For it [claimed](https://ht.ly/kxca302xRah) that while *Le Prof* does not consider the [£45m](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/18/leicester-confident-riyad-mahrez-will-stay-but-would-ask-for-mor/)-rated Algerian playmaker a priority, he DOES have his eyes cast over another big name.

World Cup winning Julian Draxler, who is [thought](https://metro.co.uk/2016/07/11/arsenal-transfer-target-julian-draxler-tells-wolfsburg-he-wants-to-move-on-6001030/) to want to leave Wolfsburg after just a season, [reportedly](https://ht.ly/kxca302xRah) remains his ideal target.

The 22-year old has long been linked with an Emirates switch, with *Die Wölfe* [understood](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-red-alert-julian-draxler-8410456) to be open to the idea of a [£55m](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-red-alert-julian-draxler-8410456) sale.

**Why is Wenger so obsessed with Draxler? Let us know below…**
