# West Brom: Dwight Gayle still on Baggies radar

**[According to The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-broms-transfer-stance-newcastle-19429349), Dwight Gayle remains on West Bromwich Albion’s radar.**

### **Gayle still eyed by Baggies**

Gayle used to play for the Baggies, managing [23](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dwight-gayle/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/196522) goals and eight assists in the Championship during the 2018/19 campaign.

With his contract [set to run out](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dwight-gayle/profil/spieler/196522) at the end of this campaign, he could well be available on a free transfer, and as such, West Brom still have the 30-year-old on their radar.

### **Bargain deal**

[Injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dwight-gayle/verletzungen/spieler/196522) have been a problem for Gayle, certainly in more recent times – he has not played a minute of football this season for Newcastle United, instead spending the majority of his time in the treatment room. However, he is a player with plenty of ability, and he knows where the back of the net is. Throughout his career, he has 102 goals in 258 games (Transfermarkt), and was previously called “[electric”](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11845326/steve-bruce-to-turn-to-electric-dwight-gayle-for-newcastle-vs-wolves) by Magpies manager Steve Bruce. He was also [compared to Ian Wright](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dwight-gayle-incredible-story-how-12164670) by Alan Pardew during his time at Crystal Palace.

On a free transfer, there could hardly be a better deal for the Baggies. Of course, by next summer, they could already be back in the second tier – they are currently in the bottom three in the Premier League and have managed just [eight](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) goals in 10 matches – but even then, he could be a huge help in trying to get them back amongst the elite.
