# West Brom: Baggies eyeing Tyreece Simpson

**[West Bromwich Albion](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/) are thought to be rivalling Huddersfield Town in a late move for Ipswich Town forward Tyreece Simpson.**

### The Lowdown: Thomas-Asante deal

Steve Bruce has now brought in [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-bromwich-albion/transfers/verein/984) players this summer after a deal was agreed with Salford City for Brandon Thomas-Asante on Wednesday.

West Brom paid the League Two side an [undisclosed fee](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62722110) for the centre-forward, who scored [30](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-thomas-asante/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/451747) goals in [125](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brandon-thomas-asante/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/451747) appearances for The Ammies. It looks as if another forward could be on the way, though, with links to Simpson emerging.

### The Latest: Simpson interest

According to [The East Anglian Daily Times](https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/west-brom-swoop-for-itfc-striker-tyreece-simpson-9243720), the Baggies are showing late interest in a move for Simpson.

The report states that the [left-footed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyreece-simpson/profil/spieler/664558) forward was close to joining Huddersfield, although West Brom have now made a late enquiry.

### The Verdict: Needed?

Hailed as [‘brilliant’](https://www.itfc.co.uk/news/2020/march/freddie-praise-for-young-duo/) by former Ipswich striker Freddie Sears, Simpson is primarily a centre-forward and has scored [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyreece-simpson/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/664558) senior goals in [37](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyreece-simpson/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/664558) appearances.

The 20-year-old could well be a future star, although Bruce now has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-bromwich-albion/kader/verein/984) senior strikers at The Hawthorns after landing Thomas-Asante.

Bringing in Simpson could still be a wise move, though, and perhaps Albion could be open to loaning him back out in order for him to gain more first-team experience, potentially making this one to watch today.
