# West Brom: Japhet Tanganga to stay at Spurs

**Sky Sports ([Sky Sports News, 15.10](https://twitter.com/footballdaily/status/1356258709350064132)) have revealed that West Bromwich Albion target Japhet Tanganga will not be leaving Tottenham during this January transfer window.**

### **Tanganga to stay at Spurs**

The Baggies had been [linked with a Deadline Day move](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9209545/Tottenham-weighing-allow-Japhet-Tanganga-leave-West-Brom-loan.html) for the Spurs defender as Sam Allardyce looks to complete some last-gasp deals.

Now, though, it appears the £7.2m-valued 21-year-old ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/marktwertverlauf/spieler/346478)) will be staying in north London.

### **Surprising**

This does appear to be a bizarre decision from Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy. Tanganga is clearly not in Mourinho’s short-term plans considering he has not played a single minute of Premier League football so far this campaign ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/japhet-tanganga/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346478)).

Surely it would be in the youngster’s best interests to go out on loan and play on a regular basis? Either way, it seems a decision has been made – perhaps he may have a chance of playing this term after all if the current Spurs defensive issues continue.
