# West Brom: Troy Deeney shines for Watford

**West Bromwich Albion target Troy Deeney was in fantastic form for Watford during their 4-1 victory over Preston.**

### **Deeney impresses**

The Baggies were [linked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12058445/troy-deeney-west-brom-interested-in-watford-captain) with a move for the [£4.5m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-deeney/marktwertverlauf/spieler/65477) striker (Transfermarkt) during the summer, but he ended up staying with the Hornets despite their relegation to the Championship last term.

Against Preston, he was one of his side’s best players. He scored one goal from the penalty spot, assisted another, and also provided [five](https://www.sofascore.com/watford-preston-north-end/wz) key passes for his teammates.

### **Would be brilliant for Baggies**

Labelled [“brilliant”](https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18577048.will-hughes-praises-troy-deeneys-impact-watford-win-newcastle/) by Will Hughes last season, Deeney may not be one of the most glamorous players in English football, but he has plenty of top-level experience behind him. He has played [167](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/troy-deeney/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/65477) times in the Premier League, scoring 47 goals and managing 21 assists, and bagged at least 10 strikes in three different seasons in the top flight.

\[freshpress-poll id=”336322″\]

All in all, he has 161 goals in his career, and he knows all about the demands of the Premier League. West Brom were able to beat Sheffield United on Saturday 1-0 thanks to a goal from Connor Gallagher, but that was their [first victory](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) of the season in 10 matches in the top flight – if they want to survive amongst the elite, they will need to do more than that. With the January transfer window just around the corner, Slaven Bilic could do a lot worse than taking Deeney to the Hawthorns.
