# West Brom: Darren Bent believes Matheus Pereira would be fantastic signing for club

**Former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland striker Darrent Bent believes Matheus Pereira would be a great signing for West Brom in the summer, as they look to bolster their squad for the possibility of Premier League football next season.**

The Brazilian is currently on loan at the Baggies, and with the club currently in an automatic promotion place and six points clear of third placed Fulham ([BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table)), the attacker could easily be attracted to remain at the Hawthorns if they do go up.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-bent-claims-west-brom-may-make-major-profit-after-seven-figure-transfer-agreement/) about Albion potentially signing the player, Bent said, “Absolute snippet. I’m all for them low prices, for West Brom that would be a fantastic signing. As we’ve said, when you’re in the Championship, it’s a completely different shopping list when you’re in the Premier League.”

It’s hard to disagree with Bent here, it would be a fantastic signing. This season, Pereira has played 33 times in the Championship for West Brom, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/transfers/spieler/225984), scoring six goals and assisting 16 times. This is the most goal contributions a player has for the side, which along with the fact that he has also averaged 2.5 key passes per game (via [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/matheus-pereira/377238)) highlights how key he has been to their great campaign so far.

He is currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon but it is reported by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-bent-claims-west-brom-may-make-major-profit-after-seven-figure-transfer-agreement/) that the Championship side has a clause in his temporary deal which states that if they get promoted, they can sign him for £8 million. At that price he would surely be a bargain given his impressive stats this term combined with the fact that he is only 23-years-old and could well significantly improve in the future.
