# West Bromwich Albion: Fans discuss Sam Field’s future

**Plenty of West Brom supporters were discussing the future of Sam Field at the club after the question was raised by [@BaggiesHQ](https://twitter.com/BaggiesHQ/status/1262826608143953922) on Twitter.**

The midfielder, who [turned 22 earlier this month](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/profil/spieler/387331), made his Albion debut [four years ago](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36240499) but has [never truly established himself](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/387331) at The Hawthorns and has spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Charlton, where he had been [in and out of the team](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/leistungsdaten/spieler/387331) before a horrific [anterior cruciate ligament injury](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2020/04/23/west-brom-midfielder-sam-field-should-be-fit-when-football-returns/) in October curtailed his season.

Prior to that setback, Field had made a name for himself as a tough-tackling midfield player, winning 1.8 tackles per game for the Addicks as he preserved a similar match average from last season with his parent club. \[via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317243/History/Sam-Field)\]

Although he has only made [40 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/387331/verein/984) for the Baggies’ first team, he has already played under [five managers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/leistungsdatentrainer/spieler/387331) (either permanent or caretaker) at The Hawthorns – having made his debut under Tony Pulis, he also played in line-ups selected by Gary Megson, Alan Pardew, Darren Moore and James Shan.

These West Brom fans on Twitter had mixed views on Field’s prospects at the club – one supporter earmarked him as a “future captain” while another insisted that he didn’t rate him:

> Yes. Never let us down. Should have been in our squad this season & we should have released Barry. One has a potential future & this was his chance to earn it. The other was fortunate to redeem himself from taxigate & as we saw against Newcastle should have retired
