West Brom have reportedly now 'agreed a deal' to sign Brighton and Hove Albion central midfielder Steven Alzate.

The Lowdown: Great Deadline Day

After confirming the signing of experienced central defender Martin Kelly on a two-year deal, the Baggies are also expected to complete the signing of Josh Onomah on loan from Fulham.

Now, it looks as if they could add a third player to their squad on Transfer Deadline Day, which will surely please manager Steve Bruce.

The Latest: Alzate deal 'agreed'

Taking to Twitter, journalist Pete O'Rourke has revealed that Albion have now 'agreed a deal' to sign Alzate before the deadline:

"West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Steven Alzate."

The Lowdown: Exciting

It is certainly exciting for the supporters to see yet another player through the door in Alzate.

He has made a total of 43 appearances in the Premier League, and so should be able to flourish moving down to the Championship.

Nonetheless, given WBA's poor start to the season, in which they have only managed to accumulate eight points from their first seven games in the division (Sky Sports), the squad certainly needed a lift in quality going into the rest of the campaign.

Signing Alzate as well as both Kelly and Onomah would certainly help do that, and should give the team the confidence needed to make a real push to try and get back into the English top flight.
