West Bromwich Albion fans have been reacting to the news that Mark Campbell is heading one of the consortiums that is interested in buying the Baggies from Guochuan Lai (The Daily Mail).
The Midlands outfit are currently owned by the Chinese businessman, and it is fair to say that he is not a popular figure amongst the club’s supporters (West Brom News). Many sections of the fanbase are desperate for him to leave the club, which is something Lai, at least appears, to want to do as he looks to move on.
Campbell previously attempted to buy Sunderland, and is a real estate magnate based in New York – his company is called Fairway Sports Capital. Lai is reportedly looking for £200m for West Brom.
Would you like Campbell to take over the club?
The club’s supporters, it seems, are not overly enthused by the news, although some don’t seem to mind as long as Lai is out of the door. The news, relayed by Twitter account @WBAReport, attracted plenty of attention from the fans, and they took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about this Campbell news below
“Can’t wait for another tight fisted owner to replace the current one we already have.”
“Very dodgy one this. There are rumours that Lai doesn’t even own WBA.”
“”Real estate magnate.” Fridge magnet, more like.”
“Surely can’t be worse than Lai? Surely?”
“The phrase “the grass isn’t always greener…”comes to mind. It’s all very well getting a new owner in but that doesn’t guarantee he/they will be the type of owner fans dream of. People wanted Peace out who had kept the club on a steady platform for years”
