West Brom are interested in signing Derby County attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence, according to a fresh transfer rumour that has emerged.

The Lowdown: Lawrence impresses for Rams

Amid the Rams' financial woes, points deductions and subsequent relegation from the Championship this season, Lawrence again enjoyed an impressive campaign for his side.

The 28-year-old scored 11 times in the league - more than anyone else in the squad - and he also chipped in with five assists for good measure.

The £4.5million-rated Wales star is expected to leave when his Derby contract runs out next month, however, and he isn't without suitors.

The Latest: West Brom eye up move

According to TEAMtalk, West Brom are one of them, with Steve Bruce seeing him as a strong player to bring in this summer.

There is also Premier League interest, however, including from Southampton and Leeds United, while Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers are keen, too.

The Verdict: Shrewd signing by Baggies

Reading star John Swift has already been added to the Baggies' ranks ahead of next season and Lawrence could be a similarly excellent piece of business this summer.

He is a proven Championship player, having scored 50 goals in 264 appearances in the competition, and at 28, he still has years left in him at this level.

Whether or not Lawrence's head is turned by a move to the Premier League remains to be seen but he is someone who could help take West Brom back into the top flight.
