West Brom remain 'keen' on making a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen this summer but a move 'won’t be decided until later in window'.

The Lowdown: Johnstone moves on

The Baggies drew their Championship opener away to Middlesbrough on Saturday evening as they look to enjoy a much-improved 2022/23 season.

Steve Bruce will have to try and achieve promotion to the Premier League without the services of Sam Johnstone, though, with the 29-year-old joining Crystal Palace from Albion earlier in the summer.

West Brom are on the lookout for a replacement and Iversen is someone with whom they have been linked in recent days.

The Latest: West Brom 'keen' on Iversen

Writing on Twitter, Nixon confirmed the Baggies' interest in signing the 25-year-old but revealed it could have to be a dramatic late deal closer to the deadline.

He stated:

"West Brom keen. Sunderland keen. Depends if he goes on loan or is sold. Suspect this won’t be decided until later in window."

The Verdict: Strong summer target

Iversen could be exactly what West Brom are seeking as a Johnstone replacement, with the Dane possessing plenty of Football League experience after loan spells at Preston North End, Rotherham United and Oldham Athletic.

He gained plenty of admiration for his performances at Deepdale, with EFL on Quest pundit George Elek saying that the 'keeper was "so important" for Ryan Lowe's side and describing one particular save as "Schmeichel-esque" in relation to Leicester's Premier League-winning stopper Kasper Schmeichel.

A total of 69 Championship appearances shows that Iversen knows this division well, and he could provide stiff competition for the likes of David Button and Alex Palmer at The Hawthorns.

At 25, he should hopefully be heading into the peak years of his career and he is someone who could aid the Baggies' promotion hopes, assuming that the Foxes are willing to sell him.
