The Lowdown: West Brom visit Blackburn
The Baggies beat Sheffield United 1-0 in the EFL Cup first round on Thursday evening but attention now turns back to league action.
On Sunday afternoon, Steve Bruce’s side make the trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn, as they look to go one better than their opening two draws this season and open their league account for the campaign.
With Daryl Dike already out of the game with a long-term thigh problem, West Brom have now suffered another big injury concern.
The Latest: Grant an injury doubt
“Albion are sweating on the availability of Karlan Grant at Blackburn. It’s the last position on the pitch they could do without a key man right now.”
The Verdict: Could be a huge blow
Grant has enjoyed a promising start to the season, scoring against both Watford and Sheffield United, so him missing out would be a massive blow for Bruce.
Should West Brom re-sign Clarke this summer?
Without Dike around, the 24-year-old is West Brom’s most reliable source of goals, so to have neither available could leave them horribly short in the final third.
The hope is that Grant ends up being passed fit late in the day but this is far from an ideal situation so early in the season, at a time when the Baggies are trying to outline their promotion credentials.
