West Brom: Steve Bruce not expecting reassurances over his future

West Brom: Steve Bruce not expecting reassurances over his future -West Bromwich Albion News

Struggling West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce is under increasing pressure to keep hold of his job this week and admits that he does not expect reassurances from the club’s hierarchy, according to Football League World.

The Lowdown: Bruce under huge pressure

The Baggies have made a dreadful start to their Championship season, only winning one game out of 11 and hovering just above the relegation zone.

Saturday’s 3-2 loss at home to Swansea City was another low point in their campaign, with the late defeat leading to chants of “sacked in the morning” from many at The Hawthorns.

The West Brom manager has held on for now, but a fresh report suggests that the end could be nigh for the 61-year-old at the club.

The Latest: New update drops

According to Football League World, sources have informed them that ‘pressure is growing’ on Bruce, given the disastrous nature of the Baggies’ form.

While the 61-year-old has insisted that he believes he is the right person to revive West Brom’s fortunes, he admitted that he is not expecting any reassurance from the Albion hierarchy.

For now, it looks as though he will be in charge of Wednesday’s league trip to Preston, in what will likely be a hugely pressurised occasion for him.

The Verdict: Surely his time is up?

Considering the churn of Championship managers in recent weeks, with Middlesbrough’s Chris Wilder the latest to get his P45, it may seem surprising that Bruce is still in charge at this point given how precarious West Brom’s position is at the moment.

Another defeat at Preston in midweek will surely spell the end of his time in charge, though, with relegation starting to feel like a possibility if the current malaise continues.

Should Steve Bruce be sacked as West Brom manager?

No

Bruce has had a good managerial career, amassing more than 1,000 games in charge and overseeing four promotions, but this is a move which simply hasn’t worked out and he is increasingly starting to feel like yesterday’s man.

It’s hard not to sense that there must be younger, more tactically astute alternatives out there.
