West Bromwich Albion: Fans ecstatic after EFL announces Championship return for 20 June - West Bromwich Albion News

A number of West Brom fans were left delighted by the EFL’s decision to resume the Championship season later this month.

Sky Sports reported that the EFL announced their intentions to recommence its highest division from 20 June, news which was later communicated in an article on wba.co.uk and shared on the club’s official Twitter page @WBA.

Following last week’s announcement that the Premier League will resume from 17 June, the Championship is now set to follow suit, with the UK government giving the green light for elite sporting events to resume behind closed doors from today.

The planned return of Championship football should facilitate West Brom to earn promotion to the Premier League on the field of play, with Slaven Bilic’s side on course to achieve that mission as they currently occupy the second automatic promotion place and have a six-point lead over third-placed Fulham. Indeed, with fixtures against relegation-threatened Hull and Huddersfield among their remaining matches, the Baggies will likely be confident of finishing the job.
