Matheus Pereira may have already played his last game for West Bromwich Albion.
Pereira is an injury doubt for Albion’s final game of the season away to Leeds United on Sunday, with West Brom’s relegation back to the Championship already confirmed.
All they have left to scrap for at Elland Road is an 18th-place finish, with Fulham currently two points ahead.
According to Express and Star reporter Joseph Masi, Sam Allardyce will make a late decision on whether Pereira is able to feature – the Brazilian will have to prove his fitness on Saturday.
Pereira has posted team-high tallies of 11 goals and six assists in the league this season.
Here’s how fans reacted to Masi’s update, with one supporter admitting they will be ‘sad’ to see the playmaker leave.
West Brom fans sceptical after Pereira injury news
“Not buying this. Stinks firmly of him already being in talks with Leeds. Makes sense all round.”
“Don’t risk injury so he becomes unsellable more like”
“Tbh. Don’t bother playing him & risking further injury if he has a knock. We’ll either need him fit for next season or fit enough to sell him”
“More likely both parties don’t want him to get injured before he gets sold!”
“Unfit till the end of the transfer window sounds about right”
“Save the asset from injury… be sad to see him go”
