Some West Brom fans were left slamming the display of Dara O’Shea despite their club’s 3-2 away win over Wolves in the Premier League yesterday lunchtime.
Sam Allardyce’s team managed to get a crucial three points in the Black Country derby to slightly ease some of their relegation fears, thanks to two penalties from Matheus Pereira, either side of a Semi Ajayi header, to cancel out goals from Fabio Silva and Willy Boly.
Should O'Shea start for West Brom?
However, while there were some very good performances for the Hawthorns faithful, O’Shea was a player that flattered to deceive.
The Republic of Ireland international lost no fewer than 10 of his duels in the game, which was the joint-most out of all of his teammates, and also failed to block any shots or put in any accurate crosses or long balls from his right-back role (Sofascore).
He also lost possession of the ball 24 times, more than any other player on the pitch, as Sofascore gave him a very measly 6.2 overall rating, the lowest out of any Albion player to have started the match.
West Brom fan reaction to O’Shea display
These Baggies slammed his performance on Twitter, with one WBA supporter even going as far to say as the 21-year-old was ‘awful’:
“O’Shea was very naïve for their first goal, second goal I would ask why Livermore didn’t clear it ? Gibbs did the best he could against the quickest player in the league. Ajayi and Bartley, brilliant at the back! #wba”
“O’Shea has been awful today, beaten so easy every time on his side #WBA”
“Get Furlong on #wba going past O’Shea too easily”
“Sawyers style of play is incredibly dangerous for us… how can a player who was one of the best passers in Europe (stats wise) struggle so much to make 10 yard passes? Also feel as good as I think O’Shea is, he really struggles to mark effectively free too many times on LM #wba”
“O’Shea massively out of his depth, could have done better on both goals #wba”
“Can’t fault the effort, can fault the quality. O’Shea getting ruined against Neto #wba”
