Many West Brom fans have been left slamming a piece about Slaven Bilic on WBA report that stated that Albion played ‘expansive’ and ‘attacking’ football under him.
The former West Ham United and Croatia manager was sacked by the Midlands club in the middle of December last year after a run of poor results in the Premier League saw them fall into the relegation zone, a position where they still remain under Sam Allardyce.
Should West Brom have sacked Bilic?
The claim that the Baggies played ‘expansive’ and ‘attacking’ football under Bilic is a little odd considering that they only scored a mere 19 goals in 15 games in all competitions under the 52-year-old in the 2020/21 term (Transfermarkt) before his dismissal.
While WBA may have enjoyed possession of the ball, they were clearly not doing enough to really hurt the opposition in an attacking sense, and so a lot of supporters were left unhappy with the claim.
West Brom fan reaction to Bilic claim
These fans slammed the claim on Bilic on Twitter, with one supporter even going as far as to call it ‘absolute rubbish’:
“Expressive attacking football? Must have missed that”
“I wish clueless people would stop saying Bilic played attacking football, meaningless possession does not translate into attacking.”
“Funniest tweet I’ve read in ages.”
“This is absolute rubbish. I haven’t seen football like that under Bilic for 15 months!!”
“Seriously expressive attacking football? From a team who limped over the line last season? You sure? Bilic’s summer recruitment was to buy players not fit for purpose or else he would still be in a job right now”
“Expressive attacking football under Bilic? I’m assuming the author didn’t watch us in 2020. What a ridiculous piece.”
