Express & Star journalist Jonny Drury has said that Wilfried Bony could be a free-agent option for West Brom.

The Lowdown: Bony without a club

Bony, who has netted 150 goals during his career, is currently without a club after leaving Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in the summer.

The 33-year-old, once valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, previously plied his trade with Swansea City, Manchester City and Stoke City, netting 52 times in English football.

The Latest: Drury’s claim

Drury shared a story for Express & Star and stated that the Baggies are looking for an attacking addition in the free agent market.

He name-checked Bony and described the Ivorian as a potential ‘option’ for West Brom.

The Verdict: Needed

The Baggies should be turning their attention to attacking reinforcements after finalising the signing of former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic on Monday.

Steve Bruce’s side appear to be fairly short of options up front, especially after moving Callum Robinson away on deadline day. Daryl Dike has struggled with injuries and Kenneth Zohore appears to be surplus to requirements in the Midlands.

Therefore, while bringing in any free agent forward can always be viewed as a gamble, it looks as if one is desperately required at The Hawthorns.
