West Brom: Lewis Cox shares manager update

West Brom: Lewis Cox shares manager update -Championship News

West Brom are looking for an ‘ideal candidate for a long-term appointment’ as opposed to a ‘quick fix’, according to Lewis Cox.

The Lowdown: Bruce gone

The Baggies sacked Steve Bruce on Monday and have been linked with a number of potential replacements in recent days.

The likes of Michael Carrick, Roy Keane, Chris Wilder, Gary Rowett, Carlos Corberan, Leam Richardson and Russell Martin have all been rumoured as possible targets.

As we know, the club remain without a manager ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading, and Cox has shared what he knows on the hunt for a new full-time boss.

The Latest: Cox’s update

Cox, a West Brom reporter for Express & Star, took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to provide an update on the situation.

He said:

“Gather WBA looking for ideal candidate for a long-term appointment to lay foundations and stabilise club, as opposed to quick fix.”

Who do you want at The Hawthorns?

The Verdict: Finally!

The Baggies have had five permanent managers in the last five years, with moves for Valerien Ismael and Bruce in the last 18 months failing to pay off at The Hawthorns.

It is key that this appointment is one with a long-term vision, especially with the club currently in the Championship relegation zone. Therefore, it makes sense to take a period of time to analyse targets, although West Brom won’t want to drag the process out too long, so there is a fine balance that needs to be struck.
