West Bromwich Albion: Baggies confident of securing new deal for Rayhaan Tulloch - West Bromwich Albion News

West Brom are increasingly confident that they will be able to keep hold of a forward who has attracted the interest of several top-flight clubs from around Europe.

Football Insider reported that the Baggies are making progress in their hopes of agreeing a new deal for teenager Rayhaan Tulloch and remain ‘increasingly hopeful’ of keeping the 19-year-old at The Hawthorns.

In the January transfer window, Rangers held preliminary talks with the youngster about a possible move to Ibrox, while Marseille and Champions League quarter-finalists RB Leipzig had also shown an interest in him, according to Football Insider.

Tulloch has so far made only five appearances for Albion’s first team, all in the FA Cup and all as a substitute, although he has been turning heads with his form at underage level. In this season’s Premier League 2, he has struck nine goals in 14 games, hitting braces against Reading and Sunderland in January (as per TransferMarkt).

He has already demonstrated a tremendous versatility in being able to operate anywhere across the forward line, featuring as a left and right winger this season while also playing as a centre-forward and in a second striker role (as per TransferMarkt).

The road to establishing himself in West Brom’s first team still seems a lengthy one for Tulloch and it could become longer if the Baggies go up to the Premier League and Slaven Bilic feels the need to invest in greater firepower.

As it is, he already has productive attacking options in Hal Robson-Kanu, Charlie Austin, Matt Phillips and Matheus Pereira, with the likes of Kenneth Zohore and Grady Diangana also blocking his passage to the first team.

However, time is very much on Tulloch’s side and Albion’s desire to tie him down to a new deal indicates how highly they value him. Indeed, if a club like RB Leipzig who have reached the business end of the Champions League apparently showed interest in him, that can be taken as a sign of the enormous potential that the 19-year-old possesses, so hopefully he will soon get to showcase that talent on a more regular basis at The Hawthorns.
