Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged West Brom to sort a new manager as soon as possible, in order to find stability at the club.

The Lowdown: The search continues

The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last season, with Sam Allardyce unable to work his magic and keep them in the top-flight.

He swiftly resigned as manager after the final day of the campaign and West Brom have been looking for his replacement ever since.

A host of names have been linked with taking charge at the Hawthorns, with Valerien Ismael the latest person to be tipped (via John Percy) to come in.

The Latest: Agbonlahor gives his take

It is a saga that appears to be dragging on forever, and speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor urged West Brom to sort it sooner rather than later:

"This is the sort of time now, mid-June, pre-season starts in a couple of weeks.

"These players are going to come back and there might not be a new manager and they’ll be a lot of teams like that. It’s strange and I can’t believe it.

"West Brom need to get their act together, get it done and get somebody in place in the board and a new manager as soon as possible.

"They need to bring in new players and get rid of those they don’t want. There’s a lot that needs doing."

The Verdict: Search almost over?

While Agbonlahor has a point, to an extent, it is also important that the club don't rush their search for Allardyce's successor and risk appointing the wrong man.

In Ismael, they look to have found the leading candidate for the job, considering how much he impressed at Barnsley last season, exceeding expectations and helping them into the Championship playoffs.

If West Brom can snap him up as soon as possible, in preparation for pre-season, it will be ideal.
