Many West Bromwich Albion fans are reacting to the news that former Baggies player James Morrison is going to be a part of Sam Allardyce’s backroom staff.
The club tweeted: “Fans’ favourite James Morrison will join Sam Allardyce’s coaching staff alongside new recruit Robbie Stockdale.” This received a great reception with one fan calling it ‘fantastic’.
The central midfielder was at the club for 12 years (Transfermarkt). During this time, he played 341 games and scored 39 goals whilst picking up 37 assists.
It is understandable to see why the new manager has done this as the Englishman knows the club better than most and he can teach Allardyce a lot. With a lot of the fan base not best pleased by Slaven Bilic being sacked, this is also a very clever move from the former England manager. It should help get the fans a bit more on his side.
If the new coaching staff can really turn things around starting with a win against Aston Villa, the supporters may start to come around to ‘Big Sam’.
