West Bromwich Albion: Robinson discusses Musa move

West Bromwich Albion: Robinson discusses Musa move - Premier League

Paul Robinson has recently talked about West Bromwich Albion’s potential move for Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa.

It has recently been reported (via Daily Mail) that West Brom are close to signing Musa this month. It has been stated that the Baggies have requested a visa for the forward and they have booked him in for a medical soon. Robinson has given his opinion about the club’s potential move for the 28-year-old.

Musa could be a ‘diamond’ for West Brom

Robinson was recently talking to Football Insider about the Baggies’ move for Musa. He believes that Sam Allardyce is very good at scouring the globe for talent and for free agents. He hailed the Nigerian as a ‘very quick’ player and said he could well prove to be a ‘diamond’ for Allardyce’s men in what is remaining of the season.

The former goalkeeper said: “Sam is very good at scouring the world and Europe in particular for free agents. He finds players that he can just get that little bit out of and sometimes that can be the difference.

“Musa is a very quick winger, I remember him even though he only played a handful of games for Leicester. He is an international, experienced player who might give West Brom some edge.

“Sam has said how difficult it is to pick up players in this window but Musa could be a diamond.”

Musa is currently a free agent as he was recently released by Saudi-Arabia-based club Al-Nassr, who he had joined from Premier League side Leicester City.

During his time at Leicester, Musa had scored only five times in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes. The 28-year-old is currently valued at £5.40m.

Musa’s versatility could help West Brom

Musa is versatile enough to play as a striker, as a left-winger and as a right-winger too. So, he would certainly add options to the West Brom frontline, if he does sign for the club.

But having said that, Allardyce has been tipped to sign a striker in the ongoing January transfer window and Musa’s goalscoring ability in the Premier League hasn’t been great. Even at Al-Nassr, he scored only 11 times in 57 games in all competitions for the side.

So while Musa would add versatility and depth to the side, Allardyce might still need another out and out striker in the team, considering that the Baggies have scored only 15 times in the whole campaign.
