# West Brom: Roy Keane rumoured to be Baggies target

**[West Brom](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/) are reportedly considering a move for Roy Keane to replace Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns.**

### The Lowdown: Another defeat

Bruce’s side conceded in the opening 15 minutes of a [Championship](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/championship-news/) encounter yet again on Wednesday evening, falling to a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End.

The club’s only league win came back in August and they have now fallen into the [relegation zone](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table). Keane, a previous [Championship title winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roy-keane/erfolge/trainer/3721) with Sunderland, was [spotted](https://twitter.com/SkyFootball/status/1577746818410205185) in the crowd at Deepdale, and it looks as if he could be a target for the Baggies.

### The Latest: Journalist’s claim

Journalist [Owen O’Brien](https://twitter.com/SportOwenO/status/1577761256194379794) took to Twitter following the defeat at Deepdale, claiming there is now serious doubt regarding Bruce’s future.

He added that Keane is thought to be under consideration by Baggies officials as a possible replacement, alongside others.

### The Verdict: A gamble?

Keane has previously managed Sunderland and Ipswich Town but hasn’t been in charge of a side for over [11 years](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roy-keane/stationen/trainer/3721/plus/1).

\[freshpress-quiz id=”410236″\]

The Irishman has spent time as [assistant manager](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roy-keane/stationen/trainer/3721/plus/1) with his country, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and was a target for [Sunderland](https://talksport.com/football/efl/1045507/roy-keane-sunderland-manager-job-man-utd/) recently, so it looks as if he is open to the idea of returning to the dugout.

However, his time away could make a potential appointment a gamble by West Brom, but it certainly wouldn’t come as a shock if they decided to part ways with Bruce before the weekend.
