# West Brom should make sure they capitalise on Bartley’s arrival at Leeds

***TeamTalk are reporting, via Swedish publication Expressen, that*** [***West Brom are planning a move for Leeds’ Pontus Jansson***](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/west-brom-plot-10m-leeds-raid-as-deal-for-second-defender-nears)***.***

[Swansea’s Kyle Bartley is apparently close to sealing a move back to his old club at Elland Road](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/west-brom-step-up-chase-for-leeds-united-summer-target-kyle-bartley-1-9243437), according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

If that Bartley deal were to go through, then it could set off a chain reaction in the transfer market by making Jansson surplus to requirements at Leeds, and opening the door for his switch to the Hawthorns.

West Brom fans should be desperate for this sequence of events to unfold, as the Sweden international centre-back would be a brilliant addition to Darren Moore’s side.

## **The Breakdown**

West Brom’s squad certainly needs some defenders adding to it. Having already lost Jonny Evans, Gareth McAuley and Ali Gabr this summer, Ahmed Hegazi is the only remaining recognised centre-back the Baggies have.

The arrival of Jansson would also replace much of what West Brom have lost in a footballing sense too. The Swede’s 6’4” frame would replicate the aerial dominance the team had in the likes of McAuley. The 27-year-old’s comfort with the ball at his feet would also replace the ball playing skills of Jonny Evans.

Jansson is valued at £5.4 million by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pontus-jansson/profil/spieler/125314), so it would take a sizeable offer for Leeds to part with their defensive stalwart. However, should Bartley be secured by Bielsa, then he may be more open to offers for the Swede.
