# West Brom: Steven Schumacher a new managerial target

**[West Bromwich Albion](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/) have placed Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher on their managerial wish list, according to [Alan Nixon](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1581556718500474881).**

### The Lowdown: Plenty of links

Chief executive Ron Gourlay is the man tasked with bringing in Steve Bruce’s long-term replacements, with a number of managers linked with The Hawthorns vacancy in recent days.

The likes of [Michael Carrick](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/west-brom-baggies-michael-carrick-update/), [Roy Keane](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/west-brom-roy-keane-laughs-off-baggies-managerial-rumour/), [Chris Wilder, Gary Rowett, Carlos Corberan](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/next-west-brom-manager-dyche-28202046), [Leam Richardson](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/west-brom-baggies-now-keen-on-leam-richardson/) and [Russell Martin](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/west-bromwich-albion-russell-martin-manager-news-update-latest-rumours/) have all been mentioned as possible targets.

Schumacher has been in permanent charge of Argyle since [December](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-schumacher/profil/trainer/70039) and has the Pilgrims top of League One, which appears to have caught the eye of Gourlay.

### The Latest: Nixon’s post

Nixon took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1581556718500474881) on Sunday to provide an update on West Brom’s managerial hunt.

He shared a link to his [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/posts/west-brom-have-73348023?utm_medium=sharesheet&utm_source=sharesheet&utm_campaign=postshare_creator) account which claimed that the Baggies have placed Schumacher on a list of potential targets.

### The Verdict: Interesting

Schumacher shares the same agent as [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wasserman/beraterfirma/berater/440) West Brom players and has worked wonders in the south west, winning [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-schumacher/profil/trainer/70039) of Argyle’s first 14 League One fixtures this season.

The 38-year-old likes to play a [3-5-2](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-schumacher/profil/trainer/70039) system but has adapted to a [3-4-2-1](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/plymouth-argyle/spielplan/verein/2262) formation during the current campaign, something which has proven to be extremely effective.

He has certainly impressed over the last 12 months, so it could be a shrewd appointment if West Brom were to bring him to the [Championship](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/championship-news/).

However, it could prove difficult to lure him to the Midlands after Schumacher [expressed](https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-manager-steven-schumacher-7588798) his happiness at Home Park in recent weeks amid links of a move to Huddersfield Town.
