West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce is personally planning to sign more free agents after former Celtic star midfielder Tom Rogic, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Baggies eye Bosman moves…
The Baggies have set their sights on Bosman deals outside of the traditional window and Rogic is reliably believed to be on his way in to The Hawthorns.
It is claimed that Albion are ‘set to make‘ the 29-year-old their sixth signing in recent months, coming after the deadline day drama which resulted in Bruce missing out on two major targets late on.
This debacle has prompted the Championship club to take to the free agent market, and according to reports, Rogic may not be the only out-of-window signing that West Brom seal.
The Latest: Bruce has free agent plan…
According to Football League World‘s ‘well placed source’, Bruce personally ‘wants more signings’ to come in and bolster the squad.
Indeed, the report states that Bruce’s hunt for Bosman deals is ‘not over yet’ despite a swoop for Rogic being ‘well down the line’ and terms having ‘been agreed’.
The Verdict: Needed…
West Brom’s first eight league matches of the 2022/23 season have come as frustrating for their supporters.
While they have only lost once in that time, Bruce has also only won one game as well, having drawn a remarkable six matches already (wba.co.uk).
Going by the numbers, it seems clear that West Brom are missing that cutting edge or quality in the final third which can win them games in the tightest of scenarios.
Taking to the free agent market to boost Bruce’s squad with more quality may be the only solution if they wish to keep their play-off hopes alive.
