Roy Hodgson has revealed that West Bromwich Albion target Christian Benteke will not be leaving Crystal Palace before the end of the transfer window.
Benteke to stay in London
The Baggies had been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace striker as Sam Allardyce looked to add to his squad (The Sun).
However, when asked about the 30-year-old, Hodgson poured cold water on any transfer for the Belgium international. He said (via Birmingham Live):
“There’s speculation about a lot players all the time.
“Christian and I know exactly where we stand with each other, for sure, and I’m happy that he’s staying with us.”
Plenty of options
While Allardyce is familiar with Benteke, it seems he has added enough attacking options to his squad. Mbaye Diagne has already made a move to the Midlands (wba.co.uk), while Ahmed Musa is currently having a medical ahead of a switch (Football Insider) and all being well, he should be registered as a West Brom player in the very near future.
Would you liked to have signed Christian Benteke?
As such, missing out on Benteke is not too much of a blow as Big Sam has been able to bring in the attacking reinforcements that he was after.
In other news, West Brom fans want to sign this Tottenham defender.
