Tottenham’s Danny Rose has been tipped to seal a January move to West Bromwich Albion in the ongoing transfer window.
Paul Robinson spoke about Rose’s situation to Football Insider, saying that moving to the Baggies would be a ‘great move’ for the English left-back and for Sam Allardyce.
Should West Brom sign Rose?
Rose could do well at West Brom
Robinson believes that the left-back is the sort of player who could do very well under Allardyce at West Brom and Rose would like Allardyce’s honest approach towards management.
Robinson also believes that having the 29-cap England international would add experience and character in the Baggies’ first-team.
He said: “I think it would be a great move for him and for Sam Allardyce. Knowing Sam like I do, and knowing Danny Rose and the way he conducts himself, I think he is a player who would do very well under Sam.
“Sam is one of the most honest managers that I have worked for. Whether you want to hear what he has to say or not, he will tell you. I think Danny Rose would respect that. He would enjoy working under that kind of regime.
“There is a manager-player combination there that I think would work very well. Kieran Gibbs is there as well though so he could even play in a more offensive position, but to have his experience and character around the squad would be invaluable.”
It has been stated that West Brom are interested in signing Rose, but because the money is tight at the Hawthorns, Allardyce would look to offload Kieran Gibbs before signing another left-back this month.
Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor are also interested in Rose, who has been out of Jose Mourinho’s Spurs squad this season.
Rose has previously played in a Champions League final for Spurs but in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign, he was loaned out to Newcastle United. For Spurs in all competitions, Rose has played 214 games while scoring ten times and getting 29 assists.
Rose would be a good signing for West Brom
Rose clearly has quite a lot of Premier League experience and has played in Europe multiple times too. Because of that, he would add a bit of know-how and maturity to the Baggies’ backline.
Allardyce does have Gibbs and Conor Townsend for the left-back spot but if Gibbs does leave, they would need another player in there to add depth to the position.
Because of that, Rose could be a good signing for the Baggies and there’s no wonder why Allardyce would like him at the Hawthorns.
