According to The Sun, Tottenham are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.
It is being reported that Paris Saint-Germain’s expected new manager Mauricio Pochettino is eager to take France international Lloris to the Parc des Princes.
As such, Spurs are said to be eyeing a move for Johnstone, who has started every single game for the Baggies in the Premier League so far this campaign.
There have been few positives for West Brom throughout this term, but Johnstone has been one of them. Such has been his form, he was even tipped for an inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad earlier on this season by former Baggies manager Slaven Bilic.
The Croatian, who previously called the former Manchester United shot-stopper “top”, selected Johnstone between the sticks for every single league match in which he took the reigns. He was clearly one of his favourites, and he is likely to continue to be an important player under new manager Sam Allardyce too. There are few members of the squad who you feel West Brom would particularly miss if they were to depart, but Johnstone would be one of them.
Will Johnstone be at West Brom come the end of January?
There is no doubt about it – the 27-year-old must be kept at all costs.
In other news, Allardyce has targetted three new signings at the Hawthorns.
