# West Bromwich Albion: Fans back Semi Ajayi to succeed in the Premier League if Baggies go up

**Many West Brom fans have given their backing to Semi Ajayi to succeed in the Premier League if the Baggies are playing top-flight football next season.**

Twitter channel [@BaggiesHQ](https://twitter.com/BaggiesHQ/status/1259752687299674114) asked followers if they think the 26-year-old is good enough to start for Slaven Bilic’s team if they return to the top tier of English football, with many replying in the affirmative.

The centre-back was signed from Rotherham for just [£1.49m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/semi-ajayi/transfers/spieler/251912) last summer and has [started all but two of Albion’s Championship matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/semi-ajayi/leistungsdaten/spieler/251912) this season, helping them to [occupy an automatic promotion place](https://www.skysports.com/championship-table) before the season was halted two months ago amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Ajayi, a physically dominant defender at [1.93m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/semi-ajayi/profil/spieler/251912) in height, has stood out during 2019/20 for his exceptional aerial ability. He has reached double figures for successful aerial duels in three matches, peaking with 14 headers won in the 1-0 victory at Preston in December (as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/247815/MatchStatistics/Semi-Ajayi)). He has also been effective at the other end of the pitch, netting [five goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/semi-ajayi/leistungsdaten/spieler/251912) since the start of the campaign.

> His attributes are a perfect match for the prem & the way Slav wants us to play, having a higher defensive line his pace & physicality does/will get us out of trouble, especially when we behind & chasing games in prem
