# West Bromwich Albion loan watch: Alex Palmer draws, Sam Field comes off the bench and Oliver Burke endures a loss

**In our Loan Watch feature series, the Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from a particular club are faring whilst they are away from their parent side and provide a brief update regarding their form.**

**Oliver Burke**

Oliver Burke played the full 90 minutes for Alaves as they went down 2-1 away to Valencia in La Liga (per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1394285/Live/Spain-LaLiga-2019-2020-Valencia-Deportivo-Alaves)).

Goals from Maxi Gomez and Dani Parejo consigned Alaves to their third consecutive league defeat with the club sitting just outside the relegation zone.

Burke’s appearance in the loss was [his fourth for the Spanish side](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/244303/Show/Oliver-Burke), with the Scottish attacker yet to score a goal for his club.

However, the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oliver-burke/leistungsdaten/spieler/341317) Scotland international also started the 2-0 win over Mallorca just six days prior, getting an assist in the game [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oliver-burke/leistungsdaten/spieler/341317).

**Sam Field**

Sam Field came off the bench in the 89th minute as Charlton Athletic drew 2-2 at away to Fulham (per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381458/Live/England-Championship-2019-2020-Fulham-Charlton)).

The substitute appearance came just days after Field [started and completed](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381893/Live/England-Championship-2019-2020-Charlton-Swansea) the full 90 minutes in the Addicks’ 2-1 loss at home to Swansea City.

The draw leaves Charlton with just a single win from their last five league games and leaves them 10th place in the table [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table).

**Alex Palmer**

Alex Palmer continued his strong season with Plymouth Argyle as he made it [12 starts in a row](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-palmer/leistungsdaten/spieler/245625) in the 2-2 draw at home to Scunthorpe United.

The two goals conceded means it’s just [one clean sheet in Palmer’s last seven league games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-palmer/leistungsdaten/spieler/245625) for Plymouth.

Following the draw, the side languishes in [12th place in the League Two table](https://www.skysports.com/league-2-table), and have just one win in their last five games in the league (per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/plymouth-argyle-results)).

Burke seems to be finding his feet at Alaves, however, it will take time before the player can make a meaningful impact in Spain, as he has made just the four appearances to date.

Meanwhile, Field has enjoyed a season of two halves with Charlton, initially starting three of his first four games. Since then, he has started just one of his last four games [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-field/leistungsdaten/spieler/387331) and will want regular appearances if he harbours serious ambitions of breaking through at the Hawthorns in the future.

On a personal note, Palmer has enjoyed the best loan spell of the trio and will be hoping to remain the first choice ‘keeper in the future for Plymouth in league competition.
