# West Brom: Chris Lepkowski responds as Sean Dyche allegedly spotted at Reading game

**Former [West Bromwich Albion](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-brom-news/) media head Chris Lepkowski has refuted rumours that Baggies managerial candidate Sean Dyche was allegedly spotted at the club’s [Championship](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/championship-news/) clash against Reading this weekend.**

### **The Lowdown: Dyche spotted**

On Saturday, Albion returned from the Select Car Leasing Stadium after [beating the Royals 2-0](https://www.skysports.com/football/reading-vs-west-bromwich-albion/467999) thanks to goals from Matt Phillips and Taylor Gardner-Hickman.

Away from the football, Baggies podcast The Liquidator took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/TheLiquidatorP1/status/1581289359382548481?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1581289359382548481%7Ctwgr%5E7269d19cf781598e865e038528ae1a894862f709%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-18748662221367323562.ampproject.net%2F2209142312000%2Fframe.html) as they claimed that the former Burnley boss was in attendance. This emerged amid rumours of the 51-year-old’s [potential appointment](https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/news/sean-dyche-now-leading-charge-vacant-west-brom-role) as manager at The Hawthorns.

### **The Latest: Lepkowski’s response**

Lepkowski has now responded to the alleged rumours that Dyche was in attendance at the Reading-West Brom game, citing a strong reason as to why the ex-Burnley boss probably wasn’t at the match.

In a now-deleted tweet, the [former Albion media head](https://twitter.com/chrislepkowski) claimed (via [West Brom News](https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2022/10/15/chris-lepkowski-responds-as-sean-dyche-allegedly-spotted-at-west-brom-v-reading/)): “A word about Dyche supposedly being at Reading v #wba. If he actually was there would surely have been footage or photos of him there by now. Sounds like the Reading commentators were having someone on or mistaken identity.”

### **The Verdict: Good candidate**

Having spent [almost a decade](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sean-dyche/profil/trainer/15856) in charge at Turf Moor, Dyche has certainly established himself as a Premier League-level manager.

In 425 matches with the Lancashire club, the Clarets averaged [1.34 points per game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sean-dyche/profil/trainer/15856) under the 51-year-old, having incredibly [finished seventh](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burnley/platzierungen/verein/1132) in the English top flight in the 2017/18 season.

According to [Lepkowski](https://twitter.com/chrislepkowski/status/1579420879154343937?s=21&t=9QTSU6fCaGk7hC_aAHc67g) in recent days, Dyche is the Baggies’ number one target to replace Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns.

Despite having [one of the most valuable squads](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/startseite/wettbewerb/GB2) in the Championship, West Brom are currently [20th in the table.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) Therefore, it awaits to be seen as to whether the former Burnley manager would take on that challenge, rather than waiting for a Premier League club to come in for him later down the line.
