# West Bromwich Albion: Baggies given boost in transfer chase for Adolfo Gaich

**West Brom have received a boost in their reported transfer interest in Argentine striker Adolfo Gaich.**

Last week, [TyC Sports](https://www.tycsports.com/san-lorenzo/san-lorenzo-los-clubes-europeos-que-estan-tras-los-pasos-de-adolfo-gaich-20200528.html) reported that the Baggies were among several European clubs pursuing the San Lorenzo forward, who has a release clause of $15m (£11.86m).

[FC Inter News](https://www.fcinternews.it/esclusive/fcin-il-san-lorenzo-chiama-l-inter-pronti-a-cedere-gaich-clausola-totalmente-negoziabile-339456) have now claimed that the Argentine club are in favour of selling the 21-year-old outright rather than dispatching him on loan and are preparing to part with him this summer.

Gaich, who according to [FC Inter News](https://www.fcinternews.it/esclusive/fcin-il-san-lorenzo-chiama-l-inter-pronti-a-cedere-gaich-clausola-totalmente-negoziabile-339456) has been compared with Bayern Munich’s [43-goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robert-lewandowski/leistungsdaten/spieler/38253) poacher Robert Lewandowski in terms of playing style, is a towering striker of [1.9m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adolfo-gaich/profil/spieler/608469) (6 ft 3) in height with a promising scoring record.

Before Argentina’s club season came to a halt in March amid the coronavirus pandemic, he had scored [five goals in 12 league games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adolfo-gaich/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/608469/plus/0/saison/2019/wettbewerb/AR1N/verein/1775) this term for San Lorenzo, for whom he has [seven goals in 27 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adolfo-gaich/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/608469/verein/1775) in total. Hal Robson-Kanu, West Brom’s [leading scorer with 10 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-bromwich-albion/leistungsdaten/verein/984/plus/0?reldata=GB2%262019), has featured for [2,006 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-bromwich-albion/leistungsdaten/verein/984/plus/0?reldata=GB2%262019) in the Championship, finding the net once every 200.6 minutes in the league.

Gaich’s scoring figures suggest that he could be an astute addition for West Brom if they can land him, while the comparisons with a striker as lethal as Lewandowski certainly hint at plenty of promise.
