# West Ham: CBS reporter makes Broja transfer claim

**CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, sharing news on [West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/)‘s summer transfer plans, has now dropped an update on their pursuit of Chelsea forward Armando Broja.**

### The Lowdown: Moyes eyeing move…

The Hammers and manager David Moyes, amid their hunt for a new striker to partner or back up Michail Antonio, have been linked with a swoop for Broja who shone on loan at Southampton over 2021/2022.

It is believed that the Albania international is a[target for GSB](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10890923/West-Ham-join-race-sign-Chelsea-striker-Armando-Broja-following-loan-spell-Southampton.html) and recruitment chief Rob Newman as West Ham aim to maintain their impressive Premier League rise over the last two campaigns.

Having just missed out on a Europa League place on the final day of 2021/2022, Moyes and co will be looking to make amends and ensure they have the strength necessary to challenge further up the table for next season.

### The Latest: West Ham eye Broja move…

According to CBS journalist Jacobs, West Ham are still very much in the mix for Broja as they eye a move for Moyes.

However, sharing an update, he hints much could depend on Chelsea’s ability to a deal over Romelu Lukaku.

He [explained:](https://twitter.com/JacobsBen/status/1533883159347179520)

*“Be interesting, if/when Chelsea let Lukaku go if that changes how they handle Armando Broja. West Ham and Forest both interested. Told Tuchel is still keen to assess him during pre-season before deciding if he’s surplus to requirements.”*

### The Verdict: Make a move?

Reports have suggested that Broja could cost in and around the [€70 million (£60m) mark](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/calcio-estero/tmw-chelsea-broja-gia-vale-piu-di-lukaku-l-albanese-via-solo-per-70-milioni-1653598) to prise away from Chelsea this summer, but if a much more realistic price tag can be agreed upon, we believe Broja may well be an ideal capture.

As summed up by former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, the fact Chelsea’s ace is already in London, proven at[Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) level and can ‘handle the pressure’ makes this potential move a ‘very clever’ one for West Ham ([Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-tipped-to-seal-very-clever-broja-signing-after-source-reveal-today-pundit/)).
