# West Ham: Hammers come forward for Danilo

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) are one of the teams that have now come forward to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, according to a new report.**

### The Lowdown: Interest in Danilo

Interest in Danilo from [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) clubs has been well documented for a while, with Nottingham Forest making an [enquiry](https://www.skysports.com/football/live-blog/11095/12476234/transfer-centre-live-all-the-latest-deals-moves-and-rumours-as-the-january-transfer-window-opens?postid=5203245#liveblog-body) in the summer, while Arsenal went as far as submitting a [£20m](https://www.goal.com/br/not%C3%ADcias/arsenal-faz-proposta-de-20-milhoes-de-libras-por-danilo-do/blt7d088b641e2d5fbf) offer.

However, West Ham now appear to have entered the race for the defensive midfielder, perhaps viewing him as a long-term replacement for Declan Rice, who is showing no signs of wanting to extend his stay at the club past [2024](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/profil/spieler/357662).

### The Latest: West Ham enter race

According to a [report](https://www.calciomercato.it/2023/01/10/calciomercato-palmeiras-danilo-monaco-arsenal-leeds-aston-villa/) from CalcioMercato, the Hammers have now come forward as potential suitors for the 21-year-old gem, although plenty of other English teams are also named.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Wolverhampton Wanderers are detailed as interested parties, but special attention must also be paid to Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees’ interest appears to be the most concrete, so the Irons will need to hijack the deal from Steve Cooper’s grasp.

### The Verdict: Get it done?

[Lauded](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1480174570560794631?s=20&t=3n7-cXxITxVAkIi1n-KTGQ) by football scout Jacek Kulig as being ‘technically gifted’, as well as having ‘superb long passing ability’, these attributes could make the Brazilian a perfect replacement for Rice, should he decide to leave the London Stadium.

The starlet displayed his defensive aptitude in Palmeiras’ last home game, making [six](https://www.sofascore.com/america-mineiro-palmeiras/nOsyO) tackles, double the amount of any other player on the pitch, while he also made two interceptions and two clearances.

Interest in Danilo appears to be high, and he will not come cheap, given the fact that [£20m](https://www.goal.com/br/not%C3%ADcias/arsenal-faz-proposta-de-20-milhoes-de-libras-por-danilo-do/blt7d088b641e2d5fbf) wasn’t deemed enough in the summer, but he would be a fantastic addition to [David Moyes](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/david-moyes/)‘ squad, capable of running the show in the engine room for years to come.
