# West Ham: David Moyes merits a new deal, insists Frank McAvennie

**David Moyes and his West Ham squad deserve plenty of praise for their recent performances in the Premier League. After losing their first [two](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) games, they now have [eight points from the subsequent four matches.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table)**

Irons legend Frank McAvennie has been discussing this turnaround in form and believes manager Moyes will sign a new contract.

### McAvennie discusses David Moyes

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-exclusive-west-ham-man-tipped-to-sign-two-year-deal-after-big-telegraph-reveal/), McAvennie said: “I think the club will give him a new contract but I also think they will wait. He has just come through the door but I think he will sign a new two-year deal by January.

“It is one of them, I think David Sullivan and Mr Gold will be saying, ‘Hold on. We don’t need to give too much away, let’s wait until January and save ourselves a bit of money.’

“But David Moyes deserves a new deal.”

### Does the West Ham manager deserve a new contract?

West Ham seem to have turned a corner over the last month as they have performed well against Tottenham, Leicester, Manchester City and Wolves, [remaining unbeaten](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/spielplan/verein/379) against four of [last season’s top seven](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=274&ha=-1).

It looked bad for the club and manager when they lost their first [two](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) games of the season. However, emphatic [victories](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) over Wolves and Leicester City, as well as [draws](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) against Spurs and Manchester City has seen the mood turn rather more positive.

It seems like the squad are feeling positive too – the Hammers players are reportedly [backing](https://twitter.com/whufc_news/status/1320775864758505472?s=20) Moyes to be handed a new long-term contract following the club’s resurgence since lockdown.

If the manager can keep the mood upbeat and the results consistent, then it seems like a no-brainer to offer him a new deal. Not only would it benefit the club, but he would also deserve it.
