# West Ham: Irons don’t have managers putting their names ‘into the hat’

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) don’t currently have managers putting their names ‘into the hat’ to take over from [David Moyes](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/david-moyes/), according to journalist [Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor).**

### The Lowdown: Under pressure

The [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) side find themselves just [one](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) point above the relegation zone after securing [one](https://www.skysports.com/west-ham-united-results) win from their last eight top-flight games, form which has caused [frustration](https://talksport.com/football/1304961/west-ham-david-moyes-martin-keown-fan-caller/) among supporters.

The Scotsman has therefore been under immense [pressure](https://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/david-moyes-sack-latest-meeting-revealed-board-debate-key-question-two-manager-targets), and whilst some of that was relieved following the 2-0 victory over Everton, the hierarchy have [reportedly](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/01/15/west-ham-consider-david-moyes-replacements-future-balance/) identified potential successors, including Nuno Espirito Santo and Rafael Benitez, should they decide to sack the 59-year-old.

Indeed, fans were still left unhappy after beating the Toffees, despite the result, with [West Ham Fan TV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqeBrjVh28o) saying: “Play like that in the next three, we will get battered.”

### The Latest: Jones’ comments

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88107206-west-ham-soundings-out-not-going-to-plan-at-london-stadium), Jones revealed that the Irons’ preferred candidates currently don’t appear too keen to take the job at the London Stadium.

*“I thought, given their European status last season, there might be a line of people ready to throw themselves into the hat. So far, from the soundings out they’ve been doing, from what I understand, that hasn’t really been the case.”*

### The Verdict: Stick with Moyes

West Ham are definitely underachieving this season when it comes to meeting their expectations, but Moyes remains the right man to steer them away from danger for now. The Irons boss has won 77 and drawn 36 of his [181](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-moyes/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/450/plus/0?saison_id=&verein_id=379&liga=&wettbewerb_id=&trainer_id=) matches in charge, not to mention that he was responsible for guiding his side all the way to the Europa League [semi-final](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/pokalhistorie/verein/379) in 2021/22.

According to journalist [Josh Bunting](https://twitter.com/buntingfootball/status/1514765225320452099?s=46&t=K7Z-jMbBjT92y1Iw27vagA), Moyes has previously worked ‘wonders’ in the capital, and there’s no reason why he can’t do that again to ensure his team maintain their top-flight status.

More crucially, the records of the rumoured alternatives do not make for pretty reading, with Benitez sacked by Everton after just [25](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rafael-benitez/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/1522/verein_id/29/datum_zu/2021-07-01/datum_ab/2022-01-16) points in 22 matches while Nuno could only muster [28](https://www.transfermarkt.com/nuno-espirito-santo/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/16520/plus/0?saison_id=&verein_id=148&liga=&wettbewerb_id=&trainer_id=) points from 17 games with an incredibly talented Tottenham squad.

Given that neither option looks particularly enticing nor are they chomping at the bit to come in and save the day, we feel that Moyes is the safest option at least until the summer.
