# West Ham United: Fans choose their Manuel Pellegrini replacements

**West Ham United haven’t had the best start to the season. The east London club are currently 16th in the Premier League after 12 games, just [five points](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) clear of the drop-zone.**

It has led to [speculation](https://www.football365.com/news/embarrassing-inadequate-awful-the-end-for-pellegrini) surrounding manager Manuel Pellegrini, and whether or not he is the correct man to take the Hammers forward this term, with the manager even feeling the need to [respond directly](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/manuel-pellegrini-hits-out-west-17243153) to the uncertainty around his future.

Considering the amount of investment that West Ham put into their side during the summer – spending over £70m on signings such as Sebastien Haller (£36m), Pablo Fornals for (£27m) and Albian Ajeti (£7.8m) per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379), the club would have expected to be in a much better position than they are at the moment.

In a recent podcast recorded by fans of the club, potential replacements for Pellegrini were mentioned. Among them was current Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, who had previously been [linked](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/marseille/news/report-bielsa-held-west-ham-talks_238339.html) with the managerial role in east London before the club appointed Slaven Bilic back in 2015.

Here’s what Hammers fans had to say about the situation on Twitter:

> Yeah good show tonight 👍
>
> I’d love Bielsa but he only went to Leeds after a lot of convincing.
>
> Can’t see him ever working for our Owners.

> Bielsa comes and brings Kalvin Phillips with him would be nice 🙃

> Only one out there we ave a realistic chance of getting is Eddie Howe imo and he would tell us to jog on I reckon!

> [@ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [@DaveWalkerWHU](https://twitter.com/DaveWalkerWHU?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) on the discussion of new managers. I would go for Mourinho for experience, give him 6 million for 3 years. or as a young couch Jesse Marsch from RB Salzburg.

> Just listened to show, agree 100% about Anderson and his lack of confidence. He is our best player by far and the only one who is capable of winning a match on his own. Good shout about Bielsa as well, would work wonders with our front 3/4 but I’m not quite in the MP out camp yet
