# West Ham United: Fans pessimistic about prospects of signing James Tarkowski

**West Ham have reportedly entered transfer talks over a potential move for James Tarkowski but many supporters are not getting their hopes up about the prospects of a deal being completed.**

The [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8704183/David-Moyes-remains-hopeful-signing-James-Tarkowski-West-Ham-bid-27m-Burnley-defender.html) reported that David Moyes remains hopeful of signing the Burnley defender, with a £27m offer being submitted and talks ongoing as to the possible transfer. Irons-focused Twitter account [@WestHam\_Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1302755158229692416) subsequently updated followers about the latest developments.

However, as per the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8704183/David-Moyes-remains-hopeful-signing-James-Tarkowski-West-Ham-bid-27m-Burnley-defender.html), the Hammers face competition from Leicester for the 27-year-old, whose club are holding out for £50m for the England international and do not plan on negotiating the release clause in his contract, given the difficult of finding an adequate replacement within the current transfer window.

Tarkowski was [ever-present](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/173504/plus/0/saison/2019/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/1132) for the Clarets in the Premier League last season, winning [5.2 headers per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/131464/History/James-Tarkowski) in the division. Among West Ham’s central defenders, Angelo Ogbonna was the highest performer for this metric with 3.3 successful duels per game (as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Archive/England-West-Ham)).

These Irons fans on Twitter aren’t hopeful of Tarkowski moving to London Stadium, with one supporter branding it “another GSB media stunt” amid the[backlash against the club’s owners](https://www.hammers.news/transfer-news/some-west-ham-supporters-believe-owners-david-sullivan-and-david-gold-are-selling-grady-diangana-to-spite-fans/) following the sale of Grady Diangana and the [lack of new additions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) to Moyes’ squad:

> This ain’t happening. Have you not realised the GBS method yet? Leak out links with half decent players who cost money, let that fester for a week or so, then when it falls through, say “we tried”, then on deadline day sign a couple of loans.[#GBSOUT](https://twitter.com/hashtag/GBSOUT?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
