# West Ham: Fans react as club interest in Jesse Lingard cools down

**West Ham picked up a crucial victory against Norwich City at the weekend. Not only did they thrash the Canaries [4-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53283313), they also gave themselves a three point gap from the relegation zone and with their next fixture against fellow relegation battlers Watford, their fate is in their hands, per [BBC Sport.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table)**

Manager David Moyes will want some signings in the upcoming transfer window. [Tomas Soucek](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/july/06-july/analysis-all-rounder-soucek-impresses-both-ends-pitch) and [Jarrod Bowen](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-new-boy-impressing-in-a-big-way/) have impressed since [signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) for the club, so he will hope to have more of the same in the summer.

One player who had been[linked](https://thefootballfaithful.com/west-ham-everton-lingard-jones-manchester-united/) was Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, who has played [20 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) in the Premier League this season, but [failed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) to score or assist in any of them. This form as well as the [signing](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/man-utd-complete-the-signing-of-bruno-fernandes-from-sporting) of Bruno Fernandes combined with [the form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/mason-greenwood/942116) of Mason Greenwood has seen Lingard fall down the pecking order.

However according to [Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-make-up-minds-on-signing-man-united-star/) Moyes is now not as interested in signing the Englishman because he has privately questioned Lingard’s desire, and his £100k wages are far too much for the Hammers to be spending. Moyes also wants to sign players who are improving, not declining like the[27 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) has this season.

Many Hammers supporters seem to agree that he is not a player the club should be signing and this is what they have said following the news:

> Are we finally coming to our senses? GSB still need to go for us to push on though. I’ve said before we could have Pep as coach and we’d still get the same results.
