# West Ham: Fans react to James Tarkowski report

**West Ham fans have been weighing in on a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/google-sources-tarkowski-very-keen-to-join-west-ham-as-burnley-in-talks-to-land-replacement/) which claims that James Tarkowski would ‘jump at the chance’ to sign for the London-based club this summer.**

The Hammers went to great lengths to try and sign the Burnley centre-back in the 2020 summer window.

They tabled three bids for the Englishman, the last of which was [£31million,](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12073840/james-tarkowski-west-ham-have-third-bid-rejected-for-burnley-defender) but that still [fell short](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12073840/james-tarkowski-west-ham-have-third-bid-rejected-for-burnley-defender) of the Clarets’ asking price.

Now, however, Tarkowski only has [just over a year remaining on his Burnley contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/profil/spieler/173504), placing the club under pressure.

They know that if he refuses to sign an extension, that he could walk away on a free transfer in 2022.

### Tarkowski an option for West Ham once again

David Moyes’ side are said to have [renewed their interest](https://www.footballinsider247.com/google-sources-tarkowski-very-keen-to-join-west-ham-as-burnley-in-talks-to-land-replacement/) in signing Tarkowski, having identified a top centre-half as a priority.

Another [potential option](https://www.footmercato.net/a1249122568801066054-om-ou-en-est-le-degraissage-xxl) for the Irons is Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car, currently on Euro 2020 duty with Croatia.

Fan feed [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1404362467204075522) relayed the Tarkowski report, and here’s how supporters reacted.

### Tarkowski to West Ham update receives cold response

**“I’m sure he would jump at the chance. He didn’t want us when we had just finished 16th though, did he? A year older, I wouldn’t pay any more than £15m for him. Tempted to just let him rot at Burnley though, tbh.”**

**“Rather Caleta-Car personally for around £15m, leaves more money to put to better use for Jesse & a striker”**
