# West Ham: Fans react to Michail Antonio award

**West Ham star Michail Antonio has been [announced](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/september/10-september/west-ham-uniteds-michail-antonio-wins-ea-sports-premier) as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August.**

And, as to be expected, a number of Hammers fans were quick to flock to the update on social media.

Antonio [beat](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/september/10-september/west-ham-uniteds-michail-antonio-wins-ea-sports-premier) teammate Said Benrahma, Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier, Everton winger Demarai Gray and Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood to win the award.

The [£70,000-a-week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/west-ham-united-fc/michail-antonio-23131/#:~:text=Current%20Contract,cap%20hit%20of%20%C2%A33%2C640%2C000) forward has been in fine form in the opening three games of the campaign, scoring [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124) times and registering [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124) assists.

The 31-year-old managed to [both score and provide an assist in all three games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124) against Newcastle, Leicester and Crystal Palace respectively, and his impressive displays have earned him a second Premier League Player of the Month award in as many seasons.

Antonio also became West Ham’s [all-time](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/23-august/michail-antonio-goalscoring-record-setting-and-dirty-dancing) Premier League goalscorer last month and reached [50](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12403749/michail-antonio-west-ham-forward-wins-premier-league-player-of-the-month-award-for-august) top-flight goals for the Hammers with his goal against Palace.
