# West Ham: Fans love Declan Rice news

**West Ham United fans are delighted by the news that Chelsea are set to give up on signing Declan Rice and will move for cheaper alternatives in January instead.**

22-year-old Rice has developed into one of West Ham’s most important players, while he has also become one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s England team-sheet.

That has attracted plenty of attention from Premier League clubs, [including Chelsea](https://www.givemesport.com/1723119-chelsea-transfer-news-big-update-on-blues-plans-for-declan-rice), where Rice spent part of his youth career.

That interest from Chelsea could have convinced him to make a return to the Blues. However, [according to Football.london](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/declan-rice-thomas-tuchel-chelsea-21759825), the Stamford Bridge outfit are to stop their pursuit of the midfielder and will instead look at cheaper players during the January transfer window.
