# West Ham: Hammers eye Mikkel Damsgaard

**[According to The Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/southampton-west-ham-leeds-rival-23482507), West Ham United are set to battle a number of Premier League clubs in an attempt to sign Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard.**

### **Hammers eye Damsgaard**

Damsgaard only moved to Italy from Denmark last summer, but he is already attracting interest from England.

The Hammers are believed to be interested in a move for the £7.2m-valued 20-year-old ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/540941)), while Tottenham, Southampton and Leeds United have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

### **Rising star**

Damsgaard has settled in nicely in Serie A, scoring twice and providing four assists for his current side this term ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/540941)). Last season, he managed [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/540941) goals and seven assists in 37 games in all competitions for Nordsjaelland, showing he knows where the back of the net is.

He seems to be a player with plenty of versatility, having lined up in central and attacking midfield, on the left-wing and as a centre-forward in his so-far short career.

In Tomas Soucek, David Moyes already has a midfielder who likes a goal – he has [eight](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/283628) in the Premier League this campaign. This seems like a good opportunity to add another goalscoring talent to his squad with the London outfit looking to continue their impressive form moving forward.
