# West Ham: Irons chiefs ‘confident’ of signing Hans Vanaken

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) and GSB are ‘confident’ of signing Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken this summer, according to reputable journalist Paul Brown.**

### The lowdown: Vanaken bids

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Vanaken recently and had an opening bid of [£8.4million rejected](https://www.90min.com/posts/club-brugge-reject-10m-offer-west-ham-hans-vanaken) by the Belgian outfit earlier in the window.

Despite further insufficient offers, the 30-year-old Belgium international [reportedly](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11139733/West-Ham-fail-fresh-bid-midfielder-Hans-Vanaken-Club-Brugge-reject-10-8m-offer.html) sees a move to the London Stadium as an appealing one, encouraging the east Londoners in their pursuit.

Now, one well-informed onlooker has delivered his verdict on whether the deal to bring Vanaken to West Ham will come to fruition…

### The latest: ‘Confident’

Speaking to [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/88051456-west-ham-now-confident-over-deal-for-145-goal-star-at-london-stadium), Brown – a journalist for the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/authors/paul-brown/) – has claimed that the club are ‘confident’ of landing the [21-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/nationalmannschaft/spieler/137576/verein_id/3382) star before the September 1 deadline.

“*He certainly has all the tools to be a success and he does score in the league that he’s in.*

*“He also clearly wants to come and I think West Ham are confident they can make that happen.”*

### The verdict: Fingers crossed

A player built in a similar mould to [fan favourite](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/west-ham-united-fans-heap-praise-on-tomas-soucek/) Tomas Soucek, it’s clear to see why David Moyes would be keen to add the attack-minded [6 foot 4](https://www.eurosport.com/football/hans-vanaken_prs361830/person.shtml) midfielder to the ranks in east London.

Seemingly on the verge of adding another creative midfield maestro in the shape of [Lucas Paqueta](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1563143658139922432) to the squad, the Scot could be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking his starting XI moving forwards.

So far this season, the towering Vanaken has earned a 7.24 [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/hans-vanaken/118085) rating whilst winning 6.2 duels, successfully completing 1.2 dribbles and making 2.8 key passes on average per outing in the Jupiler Pro League.

Hailed for his [‘superb’](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball/status/1377017750279884802) international form by journalist Josh Bunting in March 2021, the [£14.4million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/marktwertverlauf/spieler/137576) man would be an excellent addition to the West Ham ranks.
