# West Ham United: GSB could now offload midfielder Manuel Lanzini

**According to a report by insiders [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammer-could-be-sacrificed-this-summer/), GSB could offload midfielder Manuel Lanzini this summer as they look to provide West Ham United boss David Moyes with additional transfer funds – with the Argentine having started just [three Premier League games](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/89998/Show/Manuel-Lanzini) this season.**

Lanzini, who scored a stunning equaliser during the Hammers’ [3-3 draw away to Spurs](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54496451) at the start of the season, has failed to have much more impact beyond that moment.

### Lanzini breakdown for West Ham

Signed in 2016 for just £10.8 million ([C&H](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammer-could-be-sacrificed-this-summer/#comments)), Lanzini hasn’t been able to fully rediscover his stellar form prior to a serious injury [sustained](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44413629#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20Argentina%20midfielder%20Manuel,knee%20ligament%20injury%20in%20training.&text=The%2025%2Dyear%2Dold%20made,last%20season%2C%20scoring%20five%20goals.) in World Cup training.

Now, with GSB looking to improve Moyes’ options, the 28-year-old could make way this summer for around [£15 million](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammer-could-be-sacrificed-this-summer/#comments) – coming after the sale of Sebastien Haller and [reports](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-keen-to-offload-yarmolenko/) suggesting they could also offload Andriy Yarmolenko.

West Ham failed to sign a striker back in the January transfer window, leaving Moyes desperately short of options as fitness issues continue to plague star man Michail Antonio.

### Transfer Tavern take

Jarrod Bowen was played as a makeshift forward during their [3-0 win at home to Sheffield United](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55975613), with Lanzini starting that encounter alongside new signing Jesse Lingard in the attacking midfield positions.

However, C&H claim West Ham could now sell a player Tony Cottee recently described as their ‘[best footballer](https://www.hammers.news/news/tony-cottee-says-27-year-old-is-west-ham-uniteds-best-footballer/)‘ on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (via [Hammers News](https://www.hammers.news/news/tony-cottee-says-27-year-old-is-west-ham-uniteds-best-footballer/)).

Time will tell whether GSB will find a suitor, but he is apparently one of the names now up for exit consideration. Given all the talk about Declan Rice’s long-term future at the club amid previous [links](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/26/chelsea-interest-in-declan-rice-likely-to-end-with-frank-lampard-departure-west-ham) to Chelsea, it now seems it’s now another one of the Hammers’ more longer-serving players who could walk out the door.
