Via his [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/posts/transfer-update-70058710), Ex states that Moyes and co are ‘prepared to follow up initial interest’ in Szalai and see if a ‘reasonable’ transfer fee can be agreed with his club.

Highly versatile, the Turkish Super Lig defender can operate as a left-sided central defender and at left-back – potentially fixing two glaring problems in one.

### The Verdict: Advance?

A mainstay for his current club, playing the fourth-most league minutes for Fenerbache last season, Szalai also ranked in the top five of their side in terms of clearances made per 90 ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/223/Archive/Turkey-Fenerbahce)).

The 24-year-old was also revered for his 2021/2022 performances alongside former central defensive partner Kim Min-jae, with South Korean reporter Jason Lee calling them both [‘amazing’.](https://twitter.com/Jasons_JaysHub/status/1503047715764199433)

Hungary coach Marco Rossi, speaking [in an interview](https://insidefutbol.com/2021/07/06/exclusive-hungary-boss-says-west-ham-target-attila-szalai-ready-for-premier-league/516726/) last year, endorsed Szalai as a top class defender – claiming the player ‘works very hard’ and is ‘ready’ for a move to England.
